I read the news today, oh boy

"Did you see Newsnight?" Did you see Newsnight?" "Did you see Newsnight?"

Are public libraries as anachronistic as Victorian bath houses?

I'm throwing this away

Boo! Hiss! I'll never look at Paxman's
"big, rubbery horse-face of mock incredulity"
the same way again...

I admire their devilry in mentioning how Swindon's new library has modern facilities, including internet access, yet still conclude that libraries are anachronistic & that such changes are rare; they should come & have a look at Swansea Central Library.

Yes, much of the information available in libraries can be found online but a lot of people still rely on library computers to surf the web in the first place. And of course books are cheap these days but the current economic climate & growing concerns over carbon footprints I think makes libraries incredibly important today.

I particularly liked the fatuous comparison of libraries to Victorian public baths!

Who are these people? Do they ever actually visit modern libraries?

Cardiff, like Swansea, is far more up-to-date than their mental image of us...
